2008 Embassy mESSAGES
- The Government of Guinea announced this morning that President Conte has died. Elements of the Guinean military declared that a coup is under way, and proclaimed the dissolution of the government and the suspension of the constitution and all political and union activity until further notice (December 23, 2008)
- The Embassy is issuing this Warden Message to remind all American citizens during the holiday season that the security situation in Conakry, due to potential incidents of violent crime and public disturbances, remains unpredictable. (December 19, 2008)
- To inform American citizens of the increase in violent crime directed at motor vehicle occupants traveling within the city of Conakry late at night, as well as airline passengers arriving on late-night flights at Conakry's Gbessia international airport. (November 26, 2008)

- There are numerous demonstrations and protests against fuel prices at several locations in Conakry, many are blocking roadways. (November 4, 2008)
