Non-Immigrant Visas

Petition-Based NIVs

Certain categories of nonimmigrant visas (NIVs) require a petition to be filed with the Department of Homeland Security in the United States prior to interview.  These visa categories include:

  • Fiancé(e) visas
  • Certain categories of employees
  • Performance artists and musicians
  • "Follow-to-Join" asylum cases

The Consular Section in Guinea can interview applicants for these visas only after the petition is approved and sent to the consular section.
