Political / Economic

The Political/Economic Office is responsible for current and long-term reporting and analysis on Guinea including domestic and international political affairs.  The Political and Economic Section, which also operates commercial services (See Commercial Services), monitors a wide range of topics in Guinea such as:

  • Human Rights
  • Democratic progress and elections
  • Refugees
  • Social and civic freedoms and religious expression
  • Labor relations and student activism
  • Governance
  • Macroeconomic stability and growth
  • Business climate
  • U.S. investment and trade
  • Debt relief

 

Ambassador-Sponsored Assistance Funds:

Special Self Help (SSH) Program.  Small grants for community development to demonstrate US interest in the welfare and development of Guinea. Applications accepted from October 1st to December 31st each year. Late applications will be denied.

Democracy and Human Rights Fund II (DHRF II).  Grants to indigenous organizations that will implement small, short-term, highly targeted activities designed to show measurable results with an emphasis on change in support of human rights and democratic institutions. Applications accepted from October 1st to December 31st each year. Late applications will be denied.
