Trafficking in Persons Workshop
March 24, 2005
The American Center will host a workshop on human tracking from March 29 to 31, 2005, for the benefit of 32 participants from all regions of Guinea as well as Conakry. The United States considers the term "human trafficking" to refer to the transport, sale and exploitation of men, women, and children by traffickers who enrich themselves through the labors of their victims.
Ramatoulaye Camara, Head of the Section for Endangered Children, Foster Care and Adoption of the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Promotion of Children and Women, and Mamadou Aliou Dramé, Deputy Inspector General of Justice, will be the principal leaders of the workshop. The goal of the workshop in Conakry will be to enable participants to consider means and methods that could contribute to the prevention of human trafficking. It will also allow the opportunity to confront the problem in Guinea and consider how to combat and end the nefarious practice of human trafficking.
Due to U.S. Congress's interest in the subject, the American Center was able to provide 7,963,000 GNF for the transport and lodging costs of the workshop participants traveling to Conakry from other regions.
