Swearing-in of 34 New Peace Corps Volunteers

March 31, 2005

The Peace Corps in Guinea is organizing a ceremony for the swearing-in of 34 new Peace Corps Volunteers on Thursday, March 31, 2005.

This swearing-in ceremony is a significant event marking the end of training and the beginning of service as a Peace Corps Volunteer.

The 34 Volunteers arrived in Guinea in mid-January and completed 11 weeks of intensive language, cultural, and technical classes to enable them to live and work effectively and comfortably in different rural communities in Guinea.

The group of Volunteers includes:

  • 13 Public Health technicians
  • 11 Small and Medium Business Development technicians
  • 10 Agroforestry technicians

After swearing-in, the 34 Volunteers will begin working alongside their Guinea counterparts in order to improve the living conditions for populations in rural communities, to increase their understanding of Guinea and the people of Guinea, and to share their lives and culture with Guinea and the people of Guinea with whom they will work for the next two years.
