On September 10, in honor of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, the Chargé d’Affaires hosted an official Embassy Iftaar at the Ambassador’s Residence, with over 100 guests in attendance.
Justice and Human Rights for Citizens in Conflict with the Law
On August 4-5, the Guinea-United States Alumni Association (GUSAA) in collaboration the US Embassy in Guinea hosted a seminar on “Justice and Human Rights for Citizens in Conflict with the Law.” Throughout this seminar, participants had the opportunity to hear from six Guinean experts in the field of human rights, criminal justice and prisoner advocacy.
Youth Can Make a Difference says Young Activist
July 20-24, 2009 Adrienne Lever, campaign field organizer and regional director of President Obama’s 2008 campaign, led a series of seminars with Guinean youth leaders, members of political parties and students to share experiences from the 2008 U.S. presidential campaign, highlighting the important role of youth in the political process.

From July 13-17 2009, Dr. Joseph Hellweg, an American Fulbright Lecturer/Researcher in the Department of Sociology at the University of Kankan, accompanied by 5 University of Kankan professors, led a seminar for a group of researchers on “Social Science Research Design and Methods on topics of Good Governance.”

July 13, 2009 The Public Affairs section invited a group of Guineans to gather to watch President Barack Obama’s speech to the Ghanaian parliament, delivered on July 11 in Accra. Among those who came together to witness the speech were political leaders, academics, students, members of civil society and government and the Guinean press.
