A signing ceremony for the agreement between the Guinean government and the American government took place this Thursday February 21, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Prime Minister’s office. Prime Minister Lansana Kouyaté, head of the government of the Republic of Guinea and Mr. Phillip Carter, Ambassador of the United States of America in Guinea signed this agreement.
The agreement at a total cost of $530,000 USD, aims to reinforce the initiative of the Prime Minister’s office to modernize public administration through the installation of a data-processing network with access to high speed Internet and to ensure the training of the network’s users and administrators.
In effect, through its support of the e-Government initiative in Guinea, the government of the United States through USAID financed the equipping and installation of data-processing network for the public services below:
- Ministry of National Education and Scientific Research (the National Management of Civic Education, the National Management of Secondary Education and the Higher Institute of Educational Sciences)
- Ministry of Public Health (Cabinet)
- Ministry for Economic and Financial Controls, Ethics and Transparency (Cabinet)
- Ministry of Agriculture, the Environment, National Forestry Commission (National Management of the National Forestry Commission)
- Ministry of Economy and Finances (Cabinet).
