Due to a postponement of the anticipated strike, the situation in Conakry appears normal. Stores, markets, gas stations, cafes and schools are open. Vehicle traffic was lighter than normal, but has been continuously increasing. The Embassy has not recommended that Embassy employees limit travel within the city.
The Embassy reminds the American community that the possibility of change in the political situation exists, and to exercise prudence and caution when traveling in Conakry and the rest of the country.

Americans without Internet access may register directly with the U.S. Embassy in Conakry. By registering, American citizens make it easier for the Embassy to contact them in case of emergency.
