Consular Warden Message - Flight Information

U.S. Embassy Conakry
February 13, 2007

This warden message is being issued to alert American citizens that the Embassy has just confirmed that Air France has a flight to Conakry tonight, arriving at approximately 21:15 hrs., and returning to Paris-Charles de Gaulle. We have been informed by Air France that there are no open seats remaining, but you may wish to contact Air France at 30-41-36-57/60/61 to inquire. We further understand Air France may/may have another flight tomorrow, Wednesday, February 14, which you might wish to investigate. We strongly advise that you do not/not go to the airport without having some confirmation of a ticket. Given the current curfew, you should not try to travel to the airport later than 20:00 hrs. (8:00 p.m.).

The recent sustained unrest in Conakry and throughout Guinea has created extremely hazardous conditions. The situation could continue to deteriorate. The government has decreed a "state of emergency." The Department of State has ordered the departure of all eligible family members of our employees, and we urge that American citizens also consider leaving Guinea.

The Embassy remains open, with reduced staffing.

For the latest security information, Americans traveling abroad should regularly monitor the Department's Internet web site at http://travel.state.gov where the current Worldwide Caution Public Announcement, Travel Warnings, and other Public Announcements can be found. Up to date information on security can also be obtained by calling 1-888-407-4747 toll free in the United States and Canada, or, for callers outside the United States and Canada, a regular toll line at 1-202-501-4444. These numbers are available from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday (except U.S. federal holidays).

Americans in Guinea are encouraged to register with the U.S. Embassy through the State Department's travel registration website, https://travelregistration.state.gov, and to obtain updated information on travel and security within Guinea. Americans without Internet access may register directly with the U.S. Embassy in Conakry. By registering, American citizens make it easier for the Embassy to contact them in case of emergency. The U.S. Embassy located on the Transversale No. 2, Centre Administratif de Koloma opposite the New Radio Station in Ratoma, Conakry, Guinea; telephone +224-30-42-08-62 through 68 or fax +224-30-42-08-71; email consularconakr@state.gov.
