The U.S. Embassy in Conakry is issuing this Warden Message to inform Americans that the Government of Guinea announced the morning of August 11 that President Conte has left Guinea for medical treatment. We have no reports of disruption, but Americans should remain alert as always to their surroundings. The Embassy continues to monitor the situation and will inform the American community of any additional pertinent information or developments.
For the latest security information, Americans should regularly monitor the Department’s Internet web site at http://travel.state.gov where the current Worldwide Caution Public Announcement, Travel Warnings and Public Announcements can be found.
The Department of State urges American citizens to take responsibility for their own personal security while traveling overseas.
