This Warden Message advises U.S. citizens that as of midday, Monday, September 28, large crowds have gathered throughout Conakry, along with a very large number of security force personnel. The Embassy has received reports of security personnel firing on demonstrators. Embassy employees have been advised to remain in their homes today and not venture out. The Embassy strongly urges all Americans in Guinea to remain at home and to avoid travel until the situation returns to normal. The Embassy encourages all citizens to be particularly alert to their surroundings, and to be prepared for any eventuality. The Embassy recommends that you maintain sufficient quantities of water and non-perishable foods at home, and fuel in your vehicles. The Embassy is currently closed due to a local holiday, but plans to reopen according to its usual schedule on Tuesday, September 29.
